A lovely idea for patriotic birdhouses that are held in place by a planter. You could make them just as the tutorial suggests with a red, white and blue theme, or you could paint them yellow and orange and red-the bright hot summer colors and plant marigolds and California Poppies. Really, you could coordinate any color flowers with the colors you decide to paint the birdhouses. Great idea and such fun!
