Welcome Spring Herringbone Mat
Put a spring in your step by flipping over your old welcome mat and recycling it as the Welcome Spring Herringbone Mat. Instead of buying a new mat, go green for Earth Day by trying this DIY home decor project. Follow the easy tutorial to create a modern herringbone pattern that will catch visitors' attention. Paint in bright colors to give the pattern a springy glow, or stick with neutrals for a welcome mat you can use all year. It's the season for renewal and cleaning, which is exactly what this project is all about. Start fresh each day when you close the door behind you and step out onto your inviting, classic mat.

I find it hard to believe that this is a paint project. The finished design really looks like one of those expensive mats that you find in the store. For those of us with a bold personality, I can even see this painted in some really loud colors that express use best. I like this idea. I will be needing one for the front and back door.

None of my paint projects have ever turned out well. Reading over these directions, there is no way I can go wrong. I have a mat that has seen better days and this will be a way to freshen up that mat.
