Easy Kitty Cat Headband

Materials:
- Vanna's Choice Yarn: Black
- Vanna's Choice Yarn: Eggplant
- Vanna's Choice Yarn: Beige
- Lion Brand Knitting Needles- Size 9 [5.5 mm]
- Lion Brand Large-Eye Blunt Needles (Set of 6)
Additional Materials
- 2 black plastic headbands
- Craft glueMATERIALS NOTE
- Instructions are for 2 Headbands, one with B Inner Ears and one with C Inner Ears. Materials are sufficient to make multiple Headbands.
Instructions:
Gauge:
- 16 sts + 22 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern.
- When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Making a Gauge Swatch:
Stitch Explanation:
- ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them tog – 1 st decreased.
Headband:
Outer Ear: (make 4)
- With A, and leaving a long yarn tail, cast on 12 sts.
- Row 1 (WS): Purl.
- Row 2: K1, ssk, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 - 10 sts at the end of this row.
- Rows 3-8: Rep last 2 rows three times - 4 sts at the end of Row 8.
- Row 9: P1, p2tog, p1 - 3 sts.
- Row 10: K3tog.
- Fasten off.
Inner Ear: (make 2 with B and 2 with C)
- With B or C, cast on 10 sts.
- Row 1 (WS): Purl.
- Row 2: K1, ssk, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 - 8 sts.
- Rows 3-6: Rep last 2 rows two times - 4 sts at the end of Row 6.
- Row7: P1, p2tog, p1 - 3 sts.
- Row 8: K3tog.
- Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing.
Finishing:
- Layer an Inner Ear onto each Outer Ear. With yarn tails from Inner Ears, sew Inner Ears to Outer Ears. With yarn tails from Outer Ear, slightly gather base of each ear by weaving yarn tail through sts. Weave in ends.
- Glue Ears to Headbands leaving about 3 in. (7.5 cm) between Ears.
